It's like 70's flower child meets 21st century club going Manhattanite with a little bit of greek draping. Ok, I made it sound disguisting, but trust, these are some beautiful clothes.

What better way then to ressurect this blog then with Sex and the City?

I know, I know, bad reviews, blah, blah...What can I say, I'm a die hard SATC fan, I just cannot be criticaly objective when it comes to this franchise. If you waterboard me, I may admit that the movie had room for improvment, but that is it. I just love everything about it, the flashy, over the top fashion, the characters which we all think are our actual girlfriends, since we've known them so long, the though not penthouse, still fabulous apartments, the feel of New York which soars out of the movie screen for the first part of the movie. I love both sex and the city :) And the gay wedding in Connecticut.

I loved most of the gowns on this year's Oscars (I suppressed the sight of the dreadfulness that was Beyonce), they were very old Hollywood, very Grace Kelly. Inspired by drops of water, pearls and jewles, most of the designers opted for fair colours, such as pale beige, light silver or white and mostly succeeded spectacularly. Simply lovely. Here's a few of my favorites:

She stood out from a sea of fair couloured gowns, but she was as elegant as ever - Kate Winslet in Yves Saint Laurent.

Penelope was channeling her inner fairy princess in a vintage Pierre Balmain Haute Couture from 1950, and now every little girl that saw her wants to be an Oscar winning actress.

In my eyes, she can do no wrong...Anne Hathaway wore Armani Prive and shimmered like a real diamond.

Jennifer Aniston - you go girl! A gorgeous Valentino gown - just what you want to wear when you see your ex with a new wife.

Evan Rachel Wood (yes, who?) in Elie Saab. A girl, only known as Marilyn Manson's girlfriend successfully put herself on the fashion map.

My, my Liz Lemon, you clean up nicely! Funny girl Tina Fey was striking in Zac Posen.

Mojito

Drank by Ernest Hemingway during his cuban days and drank by me on every possible occasion, mojito is the world's most famous coctail. And one of the best, in my opinion.
Here is the original cuban recipe:

1 teaspoon sugar (preferably brown sugar)
Juice from 1 lime - 0.3 dcl
4 mint leaves 1 sprig of mint
Havana Club white Rum - 0.6 dcl
club soda - 0.6 dcl

Place the mint leaves into a long mojito glass and squeeze the juice from a cut lime over it. Add the sugar and a few pieces of lime, then gently smash the mint with a muddler ( though you can also use the back of a fork or spoon if one isn't available). Add ice (preferably crushed) then add the rum and stir, and top off with the club soda. Garnish with a mint sprig.

World's most luxurious hotel in Dubai hosted a unique event back in 2005. A tennis match between Andre Agassi and Roger Federer on the hotel's heliopad on the roof, that means around 300 m in the air! There is no fence, so the balls which werent's in the court probably ended in the ocean...

I see that I am going in the right direction with this blog. In one day, I have spotted not one, but two things mentioned in yesterday's posts. First, there was an article about Viktor&Rolf's doll house in today's slovenian newspaper Delo (last page) and second, I found Samantha's fish shoes in Ljubljana! True, they are way out of my price range, but I feel innerly fulfiled knowing that if by some cosmic inbalance I would be to suddenly come across a big pile of money, I could buy them in matter of minutes!

If you have seen the movie, then you know it, if you haven't, then I'm here to enlighten you. This dress, worn by Keira Knightley in Atonement, has just been chosen as the best movie costume of all times by Sky Movies and In Style. While I must say that the first place is debatable when it comes to the influence a dress has had on culture - Marilyn's white dress from The seven year itch, Vivian Leigh's curtain dress from Gone with the wind and Audrey Hepburn's eternal LBD from Breakfast at Tiffany's - it certainly appeals to my personal taste more then any of the aforementioned gowns. Jacqueline Durran, I applaud you.

The Barbican gallery in London is hosting an amazing exhibition called The house of Viktor&Rolf. The Dutch fashion duo created an unique overlook of their work in the last 15 years, including every single one of their signature pieces in miniature versions on porcelain dolls. But it's more then just a collection of clothes and frangrances, it's an instalation. And it's haute couture.

"The little people dance on the top floor of their elegant house, sparkly dresses twinkling as they twirl. Down below, like an Alice-in-Wonderland fairy tale, life-size versions of the dolls are standing in line."
